Nicholas Roerich
Nicholas Roerich, (October 9, 1874 - December 13, 1947) also known as Nikolai Konstantinovich Rerikh (Russian: Николай Константинович Рерих), was a Russian painter and spiritual teacher. He was the father of Tibetologist George Roerich (a.k.a. Yuri Roerich) and artist Svetoslav Roerich. Nicholas and his wife Helena Roerich were co-founders of the theosophical Agni Yoga Society.
Born in pre-revolutionary St. Petersburg, Russia to the family of a well-to-do notary public, he lived around the world until his death in Punjab, India. Trained as an artist and a lawyer, his interests lay in literature, philosophy, archaeology and especially art. (from Wikipedia)
For a more in depth biography, please see the Nicholas Roerich Museum on line, which for the sake of brevity here, I am regretably leaving out. He was not just an artist, but a highly spiritual being, a peace activist, and founder of the Agni Yoga Society. Here are two videos of his art, with Tibetan Singing Bowl meditative music by Frank Perry. The second video you might want to keep the volume low- there is a gong that had so much bass I felt it in my chest and my speakers walked! Roerich is a favorite of mine.

YES!
I have loved Nicholas Roerich for years & am always surprised that more people
don't speak of him. What a life he led and gratefully what art he left us.
Thanks for sharing the videos, i didn't know they were available.
I'm so happy we're friends, Quiche!
i felt we were kindred spririts when i first saw your profile.
Hugs, Lb
Kindred spirits (and old souls) indeed! I don't understand either why more people aren't aware of him, and even my singular year of art school, I do not remember mention of him. The Nicholas Roerich Museum in NY had a lot of information and photos on him. It was only until I was on the net and within the past few years doing a searches on spirituality or possibly theosophy or yoga when I encountered his art. The detail and the colour is so amazing. The videos (there were many more) I found, after searching YouTube for other great thinkers starting with Huxley, Jung (Uncle Carl!), Rudolph Steiner, etc.
Namaste.
hi Quiche,
I saw your icon while going to Jean-Francois' profile and clicked to see your invite here … and I am so glad I did! Thank you for the introduction to this amazing artist - who I am just now discovering - thanks to you! What a great introduction. Yes, his color and light are amazing and beautiful! I will be seeking out more about him.
